Lorraine Emmett

Founder

Direct, passionate and feisty.

Lorraine set up Emmett & Smith in 1994, with the prime purpose of providing an accountable PR solution to the B2B sector at a time when the industry was criticised for its flakiness. Her passion is delivering performance and exceeding expectations. Lorraine’s main role includes providing strategic direction for existing clients, and preaching the Emmett and Smith gospel to prospective clients and specifically the benefits of integrated PR. Lorraine has developed a wide range of workshop and consultancy programmes that can be tailored to individual clients needs and often takes responsibility for delivering these initiatives. An experienced and well-rounded marketing communications professional Lorraine also takes a hands-on roll on key accounts developing both strategic and tactical solutions that help to address real business problems.

Lorraine says: “every business has an amazing story to tell but sometimes you’re too close to see it, or don’t have the vocabulary to tell it, or you do it so often you don’t think its special. This is where we come into our own: mining the information, crafting the story and capturing imaginations.”

Stephen Hooley

Managing Director

Calm, measured and pragmatic

Stephen became involved in Emmett & Smith on a part time basis in 1999 providing project management, IT and commercial direction and joined in a full time capacity in 2002. This followed a successful thirteen year career as a Civil Engineer where he was responsible for delivering major construction projects. Stephen's early involvement in Emmett & Smith resulted in every business activity being given a documented process and quality control measure. These processes remain in operation today with Stephen taking responsibility for quality control across all client accounts in the business. He offers strategic counsel and is our Chief Technical Author; his approach is hands-on and he is highly visible in providing leadership and project management for complex international campaigns.

Stephen says: “The lack of apparent tangibility that surrounds PR can make it appear a soft option when it comes to project management and programme measurement. We have gone to great lengths to ensure our offering is both tangible and measurable, as well as being relevant and commercially compelling”

Chevaan Seresinhe

Account Director

Tenacious, reliable and focused.

Chevaan joined Emmett & Smith in 2001 as an intern and was offered a full time position with the team following his graduation in the same year. He became a key member of the team demonstrating excellent media relations and Headline Planning skills. However, in 2006 Chevaan decided to discover first-hand what the PR world had to offer, particularly in the telecoms sector, (he calls it: ’feeding my craving for IPV6 connectivity and mobile back-office systems’!) Chevaan operated very successfully as an Account Director delivering variety of high tech/Telco campaigns. In 2009 having established that Emmett & Smith’s values, process and performance were peerless Chevaan returned to the Emmett & Smith fold. An accomplished writer he develops ideas that command attention and his powers of journalist persuasion have been known to result in new sections being created in magazines just to accommodate his clients’ stories! Chevaan is an asset of which we are truly very proud.

Chevaan says: “Our commitment to process, reporting and quality control ensures that we meet and exceed expectations consistently.”

Well organised, thorough and engaging.

Liz joined Emmett & Smith in 2003 and has grown into a mature, credible and well liked senior member of the management team. Speaking to her clients and her media contacts on a daily basis, she delivers to target and with almost clockwork efficiency. Liz is one of those people who just 'gets things done' - without fuss and with the application of Scottish charm. Liz takes significant interest in Headline Planning. She works closely with her clients to identify potential stories and comment pieces that, based on her experience, have the potential to secure premium positions online or in print. Her tenacious approach to Media Relations enables Liz to position her clients as industry commentators and her passion for identifying the hot topics in each of their industries means that they are always first to offer comment and lead the debate.

Liz says: “there’s a very good reason why clients stay with Emmett & Smith - it’s because we deliver quality coverage consistently”

Marcus Sen

Head of New Media & Content

Intuitive, creative and dependable.

Marcus has worked with Emmett & Smith since the birth of commercial internet. He designed our first website, our second website and our third website but significantly he only provided one design on each occasion - he only needed to. He got it bang on the nose each time. Marcus has an uncanny knack of getting it right without pretention, luvviness or histrionics. He just gets things done. Marcus listens; he hears what you really want and then guides you around the potential pitfalls of getting what you wished for and he makes it work for you. Marcus comes from the old school of customer service - where nothing is too much trouble. He heads up a small team of designers that deliver website design, search engine optimisation and associated online development management and consultancy services to a wide range of businesses from bp to Ladbrokes with Jaguar and Jack Daniels’ in between. To be frank there isn’t much that Marcus won’t be able to help you with when it comes to new media and we are confident you will enjoy the experience.

Marcus says: Don’t count on what you have done in the past. You have to keep on delivering.

In addition to being fluent in French and German, Helen has a working knowledge of Dutch and Spanish, and has extensive experience of managing Europe-wide campaigns.
