Stephen Hooley – Commercial Director
Stephen has been involved with Emmett & Smith since 1998, initially providing project management, IT and commercial direction. He joined the company full time in early 2002 as Operations Director leaving behind a twelve year career working for international construction giant The Costain Group plc having successfully project managed multi-million pound construction projects for such high profile clients as The Ministry of Defence, The Environment Agency, The Highways Agency, South West Water and Southern Water.
In 2002 Stephen decided that the construction industry no longer offered the kind of opportunities he wanted to pursue in furthering his career and in May that year he joined Emmett & Smith on a full time basis as Commercial Director and 50% share-holder. Stephen now applies the key drivers of ‘on time, on budget and with zero defects’ to Emmett & Smith campaigns.
Stephen’s primary role is to manage the systems and processes that guarantee that the business runs smoothly and efficiently. Stephen also manages the company’s financial and commercial affairs and aims to take them to the multi-million pound mark he has been used to handling. As a director, Stephen monitors the progress of campaigns against contract, providing high level quality control as well as strategic direction to ensure each team of Consultants is delivering optimum results for our clients.
In his spare time, Stephen is an active windsurfer and a regular visitor to the gym. Amongst his achievements Stephen lists becoming the British Windsurfing Champion in 1991 and taking part in the professional World Windsurfing Championships in 1990. Stephen enjoys spending time with his family, and is a recent convert to playing tennis.
